 | Proceeds from the Children's Park will go toward funding the Family Refuge Center, a place of healing and support for families who are suffering from the loss of a child.
Though located on the same property as the Children's Park, the Family Refuge center will have a separate entrance and parking area from the Children's Park. The Family Refuge will provide a nurturing and safe environment for families in the lowest times of their lives. It will be a serene place to heal, reflect and remember important lives lost.
Bereaved families will find the following resources at the Family Refuge center:
- Assistance with painful funeral arrangements and with the decisions that hurting families never planned or prepared for
- A place to properly honor their child to ensure their memory is never forgotten
- Special age appropriate rooms for children that focus on helping them learn to cope and understand their feelings associated with the loss of a sibling
- Temporary child-care so a grieving parent can have time to release their emotions, rest and heal
- A place for adults and children to received specialized counseling and comfort by professionals trained in family grief
- A place for support groups to meet and comfort each other in their common loss
- An expansive library on topics of family grief and healing related to life after loss issues
- A place to tell their story and help themselves by helping others through the agony only they can relate to
- Resources and education for people who want to help someone they care about who is grieving
- Support will also be offered for the grieving process that families endure with a severely disabled or mentally impaired child |
